Maryam is an expressive artist and trainer who uses the transforming power of the arts to inspire individuals and groups to discover, explore, and share their gifts. She has used her passion for the arts in working as a therapist, educator, and trainer for over 30 years on both the East and West coasts and abroad. Maryam currently offers trainings and courses in the use of the expressive arts for people working in hospice, healthcare, education, and mental health. "The Power of Inclusion: Building Character and Community Through the Expressive Arts Video Presentation" was most recently given at the European Graduate School in Switzerland where it was received with enthusiasm by therapists and educators from around the world in the summer of 2011. Maryam is currently working on two documentary films on the Power of Inclusion: Building Character and Community Through the Expressive Arts which include a story of relational bullying and reconciliation and an interview with Drs. Paolo Knill and Margo Fuchs on the subject of empowering through music and poetry. Maryam has a B.A. in Dance and Poetry, an M.A. in Counseling Psychology, and an M.Ed. in Arts and Education and is due to receive her Ph.D in the Expressive Arts in Therapy, Education, Consulting and Social Change the summer of 2012. |
